Sunshiny Vacation
I was home in Michigan for a few weeks visiting my family, and I can’t get over how much I love that place. It was so nice to just relax and hang out with my sister and stare at Baa’s adorable face until he got annoyed and left the room to finish his cigar.

First 5K!
I ran my first 5k last weekend with my cousins, and I can’t believe I waited this long to ever run an actual race! I had some farm-fresh chocolate milk afterward, which was killer. I had a blast and immediately started making a list of all of these upcoming races I wanted to run—I would totally love to do one a month to keep me motivated and running. Some of my favorites?

I grew up in the prettiest place.
I’m home right now with my family, and I didn’t realize how gorgeous it was here until I left and came back. My dad didn’t realize how much he appreciated not finding my clothes all over the house until I came back either.

Three Things In My Fridge This Week
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Larabars
I used to eat Kashi Go Lean! Bars all day long, because they seemed pretty healthy and were a nice thing to throw in my bag in case I had some sort of hunger apocalypse after work or class or something. A hunger apocalypse, for those uninformed, is when you aren’t thinking about food at all, and then already are so hungry you have to eat...

Friday Five!
Listen, y’all, I know it isn’t Friday. But I really, really wanted to do a Friday Five post, so I asked my editor if I could, just this once. And she rolled her eyes, and waved her hand in a motion that I’m assuming meant “whatever, get out of my office.” So I took that as a yes.
Just joshin, I don’t have an editor, and my office is my couch, so I can do...
Oh goodness.
Let’s start by reviewing reasons my blog could have disappeared for the past couple of weeks.
1. I could have been kidnapped and kept tied to a chair on the tippy top of a windy mountain.
2. I could have decided to get out of Minnesota and see the world on the back of a fluffy sheep.
3. I could have joined a band of pirates and sailed the seven seas, freaking out about scurvy and building...
Oh, hello loves.
I’m back/didn’t get swallowed up by a whale.

1. I’M READING:
Good Graces by Lesley Kagen I loved the prequel to this book, Whistling in the Dark. This is one of those books that feels like apple pie, which is my favorite flavor of book. I think my next addition to 20 before 25 is going to include a book vacation, where I bring a tent and about 20 apple pie books into the wilderness, and then just read all day while doing things like...

Insta-Wednesday: Austin Edition
Let’s start off by saying that I was totally responsible on the night of my 21st birthday and did not end up giving people high fives in the streets and definitely didn’t demand that Adam take anywhere from ten to thirty pictures of me on a giant ceramic jackalope, at a bar coincidentally called the Jackalope.
Although, if we’d like to keep up this tradition of honesty between...

Sometimes...
I think things like:
You should really do your laundry.
And write a post about your birthday trip.
And do Insta-Wednesday already, because you took a ton of pictures and it’s already Thursday.
And maybe clean your room a little bit, or at least pick up that coffee mug that’s been sitting in the same spot for let’s-not-think-about-how-long.
And I don’t want to do any of...

Honest to Blog Part III
This is my second Honest to Blog post, a post free of edits or careful rephrasing. This also mean it probably contains some typos and potentially annoying grammatical errors.
My goodness it is hard to blog these days.
I love to write. I love sharing my life with other people, starting conversations through blog topics, changing and exploring how I feel about things through posting about it....

Mmmmmm…that salad is walnuts, spinach, gorgonzola and raspberry vinaigrette, with avocado toast. I could barely take a picture before eating it. And I absolutely will proceed to re-watch every episode of True Blood along with the new ones.
Missin’ my pup a whole bunch…he’s at home with my parents in Michigan. It’s Springtime so it’s probably time to...

Mmmm chickpeas. I don’t think I could ever get sick of those. If I can’t figure out what I want to eat, chances are it’s chickpeas. If it’s not, it’s probably TJ’s almond milk. That stuff is like a milkshake…has anyone tried it in cereal? It makes cereal twice as good. ‘Specially grapenuts.
Took a walk on Thursday morning and crossed this bridge...

SPRING Giveaway!
I am so excited to be bringing you this giveaway! What sort of super-clever word pun can I make with this?
-Spring into spring! -Hop into spring with this giveaway! -I’m Green with Envy! -Want to win some cool stuff? Hop to it!
Notably terrible, all of them.
But, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a great giveaway going on. What winnings will the winner win? Well, these...

Twenty before Twenty-Five: Part One
I’ve been really inspired and excited and adventurous feeling lately.
Give me a backpack and a pair of sensible shoes, please, I’ve got things to do. I’ve never really felt a lack of inspiration or want to do adventurous and exciting things, but I have felt little lulls here and there. It’s easy to get caught up in the everyday things, think about working every day and...

Spring has sprung, the grass is growing green!
Look at the trees and listen to them sing I’m groooowwwing, I’m growwwwwing.
That’s a real life song, sung by the elementary schoolchildren of America. Just FYI.
I have been living my life away this week, doing a very well-thought-out combination of fun things like rollerblading and walks and eating out at restaurants and very grown-up things like getting a job and opening a...

Insta-Wednesday: My Week in Instagram Photos
This is actually the last couple of weeks in insta-photos, because I have been slacking in both instagramming and posting about it. I would say “don’t tell my mom” but she still calls Tumblr ‘that tickler thing’ and probably wouldn’t know what you were talking about anyway.
I also made up a little game of I Spy with this one. See if you can find:
1. Three...

Honest to Blog Part II
This is my second Honest to Blog post, a post free of edits or careful rephrasing. This also mean it probably contains some very un-careful typos and potentially annoying grammatical errors.

I have been absolutely terrifying the streets of Minneapolis on my rollerblades. Just kidding. I’m pretty sure I’m actually improving the city, because I’m dressed like this and I usually pass out snacks and blow bubbles.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Adam just booked his ticket for a visit! He will be flying up here on what I’m assuming will be a plane next Friday for a whole weekend....

Rollerblading, for those less informed.
In case you haven’t heard, my all-time favorite exercise/activity/way to waste an afternoon is rollerblading. It’s the only thing that I will keep doing no matter how exhausted I get—because it’s so much fun.
Honestly, if the last time you tried it was at Sammy Plankton’s roller rink birthday party, you should try it again. It’s great exercise and works out...

Happy Valentine's Day To Me...Plus an (impromptu)...
So you all know how much I’ve wanted a Kindle recently…see here if you don’t. Maybe Adam read that I wanted one. Maybe he just knew it in his heart. Maybe he saw me get lost in the electronics section of every store we went to when I was visiting him.
On second thought, that was probably it.
Today at 11:00, the doorbell rang, and there was the mailman standing there with an...

What happens when you fall in love with a writer?
Lots of things might happen. That’s the thing about writers. They’re unpredictable. They might bring you eggs in bed for breakfast, or they might all but ignore you for days. They might bring you eggs in bed at three in the morning. Or they might wake you up for sex at three in the morning. Or make love at four in the afternoon. They might not...

Honest To Blog
I’ve noticed a theme recently in the blog world. Maybe it’s a trend that just started, maybe it’s something that I’m just starting to notice because I feel the same way.
It’s honesty. I posted about authenticity in the blog world a while back. For a long time, I felt like I couldn’t be honest on my own blog, because I had built up an impossible standard for...

The Runaround
This my first Honest to Blog post, a post free of edits or careful rephrasing. This also mean it probably contains some very un-careful typos and potentially annoying grammatical errors.
I don’t know what it is with me and 5ks. I’ve never run one, officially at least, even though I’ve been pretty intensely interested in running and fitness for over a year. Until a few months...
